Etec's skills for life department is celebrating the sucess of its first learner newsletter. The SFL newsletter was produced by learners, who recently went on a residential to Allenheads, in Cumbria. Andrew Robinson, Liam Lathan, Ian Cunningham, Micky Naisby and Johnny McDade were the driving forces behind the newsletter.

All five learners also took part in the two day residential in which Riverside Training's learners also participated.
Learners took part in canoeing and gorge walking as part of the residential in addition to producing a barbecue, packed lunches, breakfast and making sure the Springboard-owned lodge was left clean and tidy for the next occupants. They also budgeted and shopped for provisions during the trip as well as undertaking food hygene training prior to cooking for the group. A diary was produced during the residential forms the backbone of the publication, whcih was recently presented to Adult Learning Inspectors during a visit to Etec.
New groups of SFL learners will now produce a newsletter every six months as part of their project work.
