News : Hetton Lyons Park and Conservation (13/06/2007)

conservation 1E2E Learners are learning new skills whilst making a valuable contribution to improving the environment at Hetton Lyons Park. The Park is used for a variety of leisure persuits such as mountain biking, canoeing, fishing and is great for a family day out.

In the picture on the right Lindsey McDonald receives instruction from Kevin Pearson in the finer point of using a mower.

conservation ladsThe young learners have learnt to prune trees, shrubs, strim and mow grass using motorised mowers. This was under the supervison of Kevin Pearson who is the park ranger. Kevin has 11 years experience of working in Horticulture and has also many years experience working on environmental issues for the National Trust etc.
