Young achievers have been honoured for their achievements at an awards ceremony organised by Springboard Sunderland Trust, the lead contractor in the Sunderland area

The annual Entry to Employment (E2E) Delivery Partnership Awards took place at Springboard’s Rivergreen Industry Centre in Pallion where young learners were presented with awards for their hard work and dedication.

The awards recognise learners aged 16 to 18 that have shown a significant effort in the completion of an E2E programme.

Five youngsters walked away with prizes of £50 and five runners up were presented with £25 all received a Mullingar crystal trophy.

The E2E programme allows young people the opportunity to gain basic and key skills, vocational development and personal and social development. It began in 2003 and is primarily aimed at young people who are not participating in any form of post-16 learning.

The course is designed to help them to develop their motivation and confidence, personal effectiveness and basic and key skills, and to give them a range of opportunities to gain vocational knowledge, skills and understanding.

Springboard’s Denise Wilson said: “The E2E Delivery Partnership in Sunderland has worked consistently to provide excellent opportunities for young people in the city. This ceremony demonstrates the level of commitment of our young learners in aspiring to reach their own personal goals.

“Our work is supported by local employers who offer valuable experience and learning opportunities to young people on the E2E programme, without them, realistic hands on experience would not be possible. Many of our employers subsequently offer employment to learners who have demonstrated their ability to contribute effectively to the local employment market.”

The awards were:

Best Performance in Work Placement runner-up Stephen Cooper, winner Jade Pyle
Personal Achievement Award runner up Grant Henderson, winner Mikala Proctor
Award for Progression runner-up Les McConville, winner Joanne Hurn
